This is a utility for the C64/C128 series of computers, to load a file system (or other) image from a tape to a GeoRAM/NeoRAM memory expansion unit. Its primary use is to transfer files from a PC to a C64 using a tape recorder, but the code can be used for other kinds of tape storage applications.
The most important design goal is error resistance. An interleaved Hamming code, a rather complex preamble and a 32-bit checksum sholud make errors unlikely and undetected errors even more so. It has been tested successfully with an error-generating tape unit. A more thourough description can be found in the README file included in the tarball.
